🌱 What Are “EcoMarkets”?
EcoMarkets are open-air markets where producers and consumers meet directly — giving buyers access to healthier and more nutritious organic products. They’re typically held on weekends and often include special activities, such as workshops, tastings, and demonstrations. These markets take place across the villages of the Valle del Guadalhorce also known as well as on several locations along the coast.
Most markets start around 10:00 a.m. and run until around 2:00 p.m.
🌿 Why local and Ecological products matter
In a world where food often travels thousands of kilometres before it reaches your table, choosing local means choosing freshness, sustainability, and community. Buying from nearby farms reduces environmental impact, supports small producers, and ensures that you’re enjoying fruits and vegetables harvested at their peak.
Ecological farming in Andalucía is about more than just food — it’s a cultural movement that reconnects people with the land, their health, and a slower, more meaningful lifestyle.
The Valle del Guadalhorce leads the way in this movement. Known as “La Huerta de Málaga” (Málaga’s vegetable garden), the valley offers an impressive variety of seasonal produce: citrus fruits, avocados, almonds, olives, tomatoes, and more — all grown under the Andalusian sun using traditional and sustainable methods.
🧺 Don’t miss the ecological markets
To make these products more accessible, the valley hosts rotating ecological markets where local farmers and artisans sell their goods directly — no middlemen, no chemicals, no nonsense.
